Mary Eleanor Ward, passed peacefully in her 83rd year, at her residence (Cedars Villa) and in the presence of her family. She met her future husband (Truman Ward) in 1942; they were wed in 1944 while Truman was on leave from the Army. While Mary trained and worked (during the war years) as a teacher, her primary vocation would ever be as homemaker, devoted wife and partner to Truman, mother to their three children. She was predeceased by her husband in 1990 (in the 46th year of their marriage). Mary is survived by seven of her eight siblings, her children: Lynn (Al) Miller, Dianne (Darryl) Carr, Robin, six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
“It was a halo bright brought down from heaven’s light,
The sweetest gift, a mother’s smile.”
