Mee Kim Gow

Mee Kim was born on July 1, 1927 in Kaiping, Guongdong, China. She followed her husband, Young Fay Gow to Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada with their two young children. Within the next four years they grew their family as she had two more sons. In nearby Taber a business opportunity arose and Mee Kim’s family relocated to own and operate a restaurant business. They prospered for the next 28 years while also adding a daughter thus completing their family of 5 children. Upon retirement Mee Kim and her husband relocated to Calgary to be closer to family and have been here for the last 27 years.

Mee Kim will be remembered as a kind hearted, hard-working wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, who cared deeply for her family. She lived a life focused on family, supporting the family business and being the matriarch of a branch of five children, fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mee Kim will be remembered for showing her nurturance and love through food and her constant concern for her family. Mee Kim’s generosity of spirit, humble nature and ability to bring the family together will be missed by all. Her resilience of spirit, practical approach to life and dry sense of humour will continue to inspire us all.

Mee Kim will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 60 years, Young Fay Gow; her children, Susan (David), Danny (Betty) and Connie (Young); daughters-in-law’s, Janice and Diane; her brother, Harry (Ellen); as well as her fourteen grandchildren, Stephanie, Sabrina, Ted, Jennifer, Jasmine, Soleil, Sonnet, Shepherd, Brandon, Bradley, Brett, Danielle, Ben and Lucas and her four great-grandchildren, Mei Li, Cooper, Beckett and Ethan.

Mee Kim is predeceased by her two sons Jerry and William.

A Visitation will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
