I only recently learned of Melody’s untimely passing. She and I were fast friends in Mrs. Cummings Grade 2 class at Faywood School. I loved her pretty face, her giggles and her willingness to be silly with me. In reading your family ‘s tribute to her, it seems she never lost that joy. I often wondered about her over the years. She must be an angel watching over you. May her memory be a blessing.

I was lucky enough to work for Melody for a number of years at the beginning of my career in Calgary. Melody was a sweetheart – thoughtful, kind, warm, and giving. A great coach who taught me a lot, and cared deeply for her peers. I was so sorry to hear about Melody’s passing – and will remember her fondly.

Dear God, I ask you to enrich the lives of Mel's family and those whom you've placed near Melody in her short time on earth. Where there is contention with her death because we dont understand why, please sow your understanding. Where there is disappointment in you, please give us faith. Please use each
one of us who reads this as examples of what Melody was like. Let her beauty and love exude from us each day.

Please find comfort knowing Melody mentioned time and time and time again how thankful she was for each one of you and everything you have done for her. I worked for Melody after she hired me on at SMART.  I will always be grateful to her as that job changed my career.

She was a truly kind person and was always volunteering to help in any way she could.  She was an excellent cook and would often host a team dinner at her house where we were treated to many of her fantastic culinary creations.  

I was very sad to learn of her passing and will be thinking of your family during this difficult time.

Melody has been a part of my life since we were twelve  years old.  Each birthday card I received from Melody meant the world to me. It was a symbol of our constant friendship.
   I have so many fond memories of the fun times Melody, Reggie and I had together.    And now we are two.  It just won't be the same without you,  dear Melody but you will always be with us and we will always love you.

She was such a beautiful woman.  She left way too soon.   I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I can't even to begin to imagine your pain. I didn't know your sister, but through your journals of her battle I perceived a very strong minded individual.  I honestly though she would beat this.  I am so sorry to you all for your loss.

My thoughts are with all of you in this difficult time.  I remember Mel's infectious laugh the first time I met her and your wonderful family in Don mills. Your dad and mom were so proud of all of you. Stay strong.

Mel was the big sister that everyone should have or aspire to be ... kind, loving and always there for her family. Her style and grace, talents in the kitchen and in every task would have easily made her Canada's Martha Stewart and she been given the time in life to write that book. I was lucky to call her a sister-in-law for a good portion of my life and i have many many fond memories. Cancer seems to always take the best ones. I am so sorry that it choose Mel as well. xxoo

I am truly sorry for your loss.  Melody was a person of high quality.  She had a special radar for people who were hurting or lonely.  Her heart was very generous and she never kept track of wrongs.  I will miss her.  Although in recent years we hadn't seen each other as often as I would have liked, I will always consider her a dear, dear friend. I worked for Melody for several years and remember her as a very kind and considerate person. She was usually the person at the office to recognize birthdays and organize lunches to mark special events. She was a great cook too! I'm so sorry to hear about her passing.

We were very sad to read about Melody today in the Toronto Star.  Melody and I shared many fond memories and fun filled activities. We took sailing lessons in the Toronto Harbour, enjoyed teaching cross-country skiing,travelled to New Hampshire and Vermont with the Marauders, and together drove to Muskoka.  As a group we all enjoyed her cooking, her kindnesses, her empathetic nature and envied her natural athletic abilities.  My children were recipients of her generous personal gifts of family made hats to match their snow suits (exactly) and our Christmas tree will always hold her creative handmade ornaments.  I regret that it had been quite a while since I had spoken with her and by going through pictures today I realize how much she will be missed by all the people she was in contact with.  Her genuine concern for others and her ready smile will keep her within my heart.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this most difficult time. Your sister Mel was a beautiful person.

The fact that Melody chose Calgary as her home made me cry as I too chose Calgary many years ago and with leaving after ten years, regret the move; I should have stayed.
