On September 25, 2012 Melvin Stauffer passed away peacefully at the Calgary Southwood Hospice at the age of 82 years. Melvin enjoyed a long career with the CBC as a broadcast engineer. Following his retirement in Montreal, Melvin moved to Calgary and taught broadcast engineering at SAIT for several years. When fully retired, Melvin donated his time as a volunteer for Heritage Park in addition to enjoying his many world travels. Melvin’s unique humor, gentle nature, passion for travel and love of classical music will always be remembered by his family. Melvin is survived by his brother Raymond (Pat) Stauffer; cousins Donna (Ray) Pascal, Leanne Garrison, Larry (Glenna) Clarke, Lorne (Ruth) Ordes, Richard (Karen) Ordes; nieces Lorraine (Kurt) Stauffer, Nancy (Troy) Sadler; and nephews Brian Stauffer and Paul (Sara) Sadler. At Sunday dinners, Melvin relished sharing his toy gimmics with grandnieces and grandnephews, Sophia, Matthew, Kyle, Grace, Brady and Alexa. A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.
