Mike was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Vera Sledge of Bristol. He was born in Bristol and in 1954 joined the Merchant Navy and never lost his love for the sea. In 1966, Mike brought his young family to Calgary and his adventurous spirit eventually led him into the trucking industry. His enjoyment of the road continued for over 30 years. Before retirement, Mike was employed for the last fourteen years of his career for Rernwan Carriers Ltd. He loved watching the Flames and Stampeders and was an avid Nascar fan. Mike enjoyed a good political discussion and was always ready to give his opinion!
