Uncle Floyd was my grandmother Donna’s brother.  This is a photo of my family (mom Lucy, brother Ryan, and me, Anndrea) on one of our annual summer trips from Kamloops to Saskatchewan.  Each trip we were invited to overnight with Floyd and Nan in both directions.  We looked forward to big hugs and bright pink kisses from Auntie Nan each year.  She was so thoughtful, giving up her bed, making fresh squeezed orange juice and leaving a $5 spending money treat for me and Ryan.  Our family enjoyed these visits with Floyd and Nan for about 15 years.

When my daughter moved to Calgary in 2020, I was blessed with several meaningful visits with Nan as we reminisced about her farm and dog and the good old days.  I’m glad to have spent that time with her.  She made our lives brighter for many years.  She will be missed.

Nan and I enjoyed looking through her photo albums.  This is the only baby photo I could find.

As a child, I always looked forward to Aunt Nan’s visits here in Northern Ireland. She always had wonderful stories to tell of her life  in Canada and of her travels which she and Floyd enjoyed to many places, Russia being one.  I would think that she never lost that sense of adventure for what she would see and experience.   She always sent the loveliest gifts such as rolls of material which mum had made into lovely dresses for me and my sister Deborah. At one time she sent red Indian outfits which I loved to wear. She was a strong clever woman and a great example for all of us.  My lovely late father, her brother John, always asked me if  ‘I had heard anything about Nan’ and I wish that I had placed a call to her for him. He would have enjoyed that so much but everyday life gets in the way. She was always his ‘big sister’ and he possessed the same adventurous spirit and travelled the world and worked so very hard . I am John’s eldest daughter Jacqueline Davidson and live on the Ards Peninsula and not too far from Granagh, the farm where they were born. I feel very proud to have had the family I come from.  Go lightly and softly onto your next chapter Aunt Nan. Blessings from your late brother John’s family xo 🙏

I was so fond of auntie nan. I'm very sorry to learn of her passing. What a wonderful character she was. She always spoiled me rotten when she came to visit. She knew I loved jello and never came empty handed as she knew I'd be waiting for it! She was so bubbly and seeing her with her sister Jean, my beloved grandmother, they were definitely cut from the same cloth. When they got together it was all laughs and all the craic. If I ever wondered what I will look like when I get older I only have to look at nan! I'm often told I'm her double and I take it entirely as a compliment. What a beautiful lady inside and out. RIP dearest Nan xxxx

I’m sorry I never met you Aunt Nan , but my dad (George Coulter ) often talked about you so lovingly and I always felt that I  did know you so well as I was growing up . You always sounded so exciting , I wish I had of met you and listened to your stories of your life and spent time with you . All my love and much love from your brother George . Auntie Nan - always ready for her travels, always ready to meet people, and always ready for a chat.  She was warm and caring, with a big laugh and smile to match.

Nan fell in love with Canada, and fell for the love of her live Floyd.
Thankfully, although her heart was in Canada, she never forgot her family and friends in Northern Ireland.

I remember Auntie Nan staying with my mum when she came back to Ireland.  She arrived like a breath of fresh air, full of life and energy.  She took the time to enjoy being with each and every one of us.  I especially remember her wonderful 'red lipstick'.  She was one glamorous lady!

Nancy Reynolds was our Auntie Nan!  She and our lovely late mum Jean adored one another.  They were regularly on the phone to one another, with Nan making many visits back to Northern Ireland.  They had great laughs together.  Both big personalities, warm and caring, and both quick witted.  I'm not sure who the boss was?  I hope they're together again.  And I've no doubt, with their sisterly love, they'll be keeping one another right!

The Costello family met Nan when our father married Wilma Pertel. Nan and Wilma shared their mutual career as nurses.  As city kids, we were invited out to the farm for a meal which was always a fun adventure.  There we were treated to Nan’s lively personality and a delicious meal cooked in her farm kitchen and on her antique stove. When we became adults, with houses and families, Floyd and Nan offered us a part of their garden plot to grow, weed and harvest some vegetables.  Each visit was another opportunity to chat with Nana and Floyd. Nan, in particular was always very up to date on current affairs. Condolences to Nan’s family and friends. We all have fond memories and appreciation for the kindness shown to us city kids!

I have such fond memories of Aunt Nan and the excitement in Granny Jean’s when her big sister was expected on one of her visits home. Nan’s arrival always heralded much fun along with family parties - and she was always the life and soul of those- a wonderful, kind, fun and vibrant personality who was loved by young and old.  Missing both these lovely ladies.
