Norma was born in Port Arthur, Ontario on August 16, 1936 to William and Doris Boyko. She married Peter Zloty in 1958 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Where they had many wonderful memories of raising their two sons, Dr. David Zloty (Christine) of Vancouver and Peter (Susann) of Calgary. Summers were spent with family at the cabin in Lake Shebandowan and Raleigh Lake in Ontario. In 1975, they moved their family to Calgary. Norma perfected her organizational skills while working at Turbo Resources as the office manager for many years. After retirement, she kept very busy volunteering at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, staying in amazing shape with her Jazzercise group and walking miles in Nose Hill Park and later in Garrison Woods. Norma and Peter did a bit of travelling together including an amazing adventure to Australia before his passing in 2000. She also loved travelling with her son David and his wife Christine having the opportunity to see amazing locations such as Europe and Peru. She moved from the Brentwood area to the Springbank Hill area in 2002 to be closer to her family. There, she became engaged with her community association serving as President for a couple of years. She moved to the Amica Aspen Woods Retirement community in 2017 and enjoyed her time there as they have a very active community.
Norma had lifelong friends across the country that she kept in touch with by phone calls every Sunday. Norma loved to surround herself with outgoing people as she was a quiet person herself. She loved to read and was part of the same book club for over 2 decades.
Her greatest love were her two grandsons, Jackson and Benjamin, both of Calgary. She was their biggest fan at all their sporting and school activities. She learned where every hockey rink and baseball diamond was located in Calgary. She was a huge part of their everyday lives and they will carry this special relationship with them forever.
Norma is survived by her loving sons, David (Christine) and Peter (Susann), her very special grandsons, Jackson and Benjamin and her precious niece in Thunder Bay, Darlene (Lee) Maslen. She was predeceased by her husband Peter Zloty; sister, Francis Klukie; brother, Joseph Boyko; brother and sister in law, Bert and Anne Maslen; brother in law, Paul Zloty, all of Thunder Bay. Norma was the last of her generation in the family. Her strength and devotion to her family will be greatly missed.
