Born to Yap Un Sing and Tan Hio Eng in Cebu City on January 15, 1931, she married Antonio Key on October 8, 1949. Together, they raised five children.
Paciencia was a beloved sister and a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. As a devoted homemaker and the spiritual "prayer warrior" for her family, she was a source of strength and resilience for multiple generations. She found great joy in sewing, cooking, baking, serving others, and singing hymns or Chinese Christian songs; but her greatest passion was her faith in God. Her life was a testament to her unwavering devotion to God.
Paciencia will be lovingly remembered by her brother Francisco, sister Soledad, her children, Rosalia, Antonio Jr. (Elizabeth), Grace, and Sandra; daughter in law, Carolina; her grandchildren, Raissa (Jay), Alexies (Jerenie), Almeric, Albeniz (Raquel), Eliza (Ace), Kate (Karl), Kathy (Andre), Kathleen (Jeff), Kendrick (Chrisse), Kyle, Kimberly (Weylin), Kylie (Raul), and Jason; great grandchildren, nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Antonio; her grandson, Keith; sister, Leoncia; her son, Erwin; her son-in-law, William, and her brother, Pedro.
Though her time on earth has come to a close, her journey continues in the glory of Heaven. We take comfort in knowing that her body rests in peace and her spirit is now with the Lord. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 12, 2026 at 2:00 pm at South Calgary Funeral Centre and Crematorium, 12700 Macleod Trail SE Calgary, Alberta.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Alberta Health Services Palliative Care Team and Above and Beyond Care Services Inc for their compassionate, gentle, and respectful care of Paciencia in her final days.
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:1-3, NKJV)
