As a former shipmate of Paul's, it was quite a shock to hear this when it happened. I was on HMS Leander with Paul, when we spent over 6 months away from UK visiting quite a few places; and it was then in 1978 that we first saw Canada and Esquimalt. I expect it was there, that he made a decision that he would go back. I always remember him from those days, not years later. I often think back to those days and wonder how many on that Leander trip, are still with us.

So very sad to read this, Paul was a very dear friend and we had sadly lost touch.  We were hoping to reconnect. Thinking of Paul's loved ones and sending our love and strength. I still can't believe you're not here anymore. 
I miss you and your english humor.  Making me laugh all the time even when I was down.
Our dinner dates to the Canadian Brewhouse where you would always tease the waitresses. 
Talking about your time in the UK Armed forces and Royal Navy and Royal Marines. You had some really great stories to tell.
You had so many wonderful adventures around the world and I am grateful I got to hear them and be your friend. 
You left a void from your sudden passing, but I know it will be fine as long as I remember you and continue to tell your stories.

I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Mr. Pauls passing. I worked with him at the bus transportation company, and we made such a great team. 
Even in my short time of knowing him, we  created a lasting friendship that continued after I moved to another job. We would take each other out to the Canadian Brewhouse for lunch dates and talk about all of his travel dreams!

He took pride and drove me crazy,  having the nicest lawn in the community.

My sailing instructor!  I'll always remember Paul helping me learn how to sail.  

Paul spent a lot of time at Gull Lake, Ab helping me with yard work,  equipment maintenance and building projects after his retirement.  He enjoyed the area in central Alberta as he said it reminded him of the countryside in England where he grew up.   He would go for many drives exploring the area and looking for nature.   I loved Paul's humor, his many stories and how he could come up with crazy ideas to play tricks or joke with people.   
I will always appreciate what a gentleman he was and how he looked after those he cared for.  I am forever grateful for his support when I went through a very difficult time in my life.  I never asked but he knew exactly where he was needed.   Rest in peace Mr. Paul knowing you were loved.

I cannot thank Paul enough for giving me an opportunity to relocate to Vancouver Island and hiring me as the Inspection Manager. He provided support and guidance and helped me to develop as a manager. I enjoyed our conversations and his keen sense of humor.  Condolences to his family, friends and many CFIA colleagues.

Paul, I will always remember the good times working with you at CFIA.  You had a great sense of humour and I am thankful for all of your stories and mentorship.  Sending my condolences to your family and loved ones.

Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences to Paul’s family and friends. Paul was my Manager, Mentor and Friend.      He played a key role in my personal development where he helped me take on new challenges and opportunities and provided me with advice and support and helped me look at things from a different perspective.    He was a mentor to me as I took on leadership roles and in emergency responses where I was able to tap into his knowledge and experience.       I enjoyed his sense of humour and his quick wit, and we shared many laughs.

I served with Yorks on HMS Leander around 1978, many a great run ashore in foreign shores with the said man. R.I.P my friend calm seas, fair wind, and a safe Anchorage.

Paul did a lot for his community including a lot of work for young people . He will be sadly missed

So sorry to here the loss of my old ship mate we served together on HMS Ajax and shared the same mess ironically I remember our best runs a shore together were in Canada one particular night in St John’s New Brunswick after a few beers ! Sharing the best pizza I’ve ever had !
