

Peter was born on February 6, 1958, in Adugyama, Ghana, to the late Opanin Francis Kwadwo Mprah, a postal agent, and Obaapanin Elizabeth Manu (also known as Akua Tiah). He was the fifth of his siblings.
He began his education at St. Anthony R/C Primary and Middle School in Adugyama, where he earned his Middle School Leaving Certificate. He later attended Tweneboah Kodua Secondary School, obtaining his GCE Ordinary Level certificate.
After completing his education, Peter traveled to Nigeria and eventually settled in Canada in search of new opportunities. He was a dedicated and hardworking individual who spent several years working with Logistics in Motion (LIM) in Calgary.
Peter had a deep love for soccer and was a devoted supporter of Manchester United Football Club in England.
He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. Though his passing leaves a profound void, his loved ones take comfort in their faith and the lasting memories of his kindness and good deeds. The Assiniee family of Adugyama bids him farewell: “Agya Yaw, nante yie”, rest well until we meet again.
Peter is survived by his partner, Juliana Mansa Kwaku; his children, Sandra Akweenda (Holland), Deborah Akweenda and Cliff Akweenda (Montreal), and Sonia Akweenda (Calgary); and four grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery, 243208 Garden Road, Calgary.
