Reed passed away in Calgary Alberta at the age of 70 years, he is survived by his loving children Emily (Matt & Sullivan), Geoffrey (Ashley & Isabella), his mother Alice, brothers Murray, Darrell (Mitzi), Glen (Sherri), sister Patti (Kim) and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son Andrew and father Allan. Reed was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta to loving parents Allan and Alice Banks, he grew up in Calgary as the oldest of 5. Reed excelled in sports through high school at Earnest Manning High School, playing football and ran as part of CALTAF track and field team. He attended SAIT where he earned his Petroleum Engineering degree that propelled him into a career in Seismic engineering. His love of seismic took him south to Texas and the Gulf of Mexico for many years along with numerous trips through northern Alberta. Reed was known for his sense of humour and quick wit, his love of books and extensive knowledge of most topics. He was endlessly proud of his children and their achievements in life, he cherished his grandson Sullivan. The family will hold a private celebration of Reed’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Easter Seals in Reed’s name.
