Rocco Voglini passed away on Sunday, February 27th at the age of 92 years, surrounded by his family. Rocco was born on the 24th of January 1930, to Filippo and Antonia in Rocca d’Evandro, Caserta (Italy). He married the love of his life, Italia Maria Reale in December of 1954. Like many new Canadians from Italy, Rocco and his family moved to Canada and made Calgary their home.
Rocco began his life-long career in construction and took pride in his accomplishments throughout those years. He enjoyed some outdoor activities; hunting, fishing and hosting BBQ’s with his family and friends. He took pleasure in gardening and having the greenest, most immaculate grass on the block. He would receive many compliments on his lawn from neighbors walking and driving past. Rocco would bring his family along on many of the fishing trips; Little Bow being one of his favorite spots. A family tradition was to make frequent road trips to B.C. for picnics and to gather fresh fruit and vegetables; always returning with a full load of tomatoes that would become their homemade sauce. Every Fall Rocco enjoyed the making of his homemade wine which he shared with his family and friends. Above all, Rocco was a hard-working man who loved his family and always did the best he could for them.
He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 67 years, Italia; his children and their families.
A Private Funeral Service was held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery).
