Ruth was born in Calgary, AB on June 21, 1916 to her loving parents, Harold and Bessie Wallis. She graduated from Crescent Heights High School and continued her education at SAIT, during which time she served as the secretary for the students union. After graduating from SAIT, she loved working at the Eaton’s department store. During this time, she met the love of her life, Glynn McClelland. After dating for some time, they were married during the Second World War, while Glynn was serving in the Air Force. After marriage, they were posted in Halifax and Ottawa until the end of the war when they returned to Calgary to live. Following their return to Calgary they had their two sons, Brent and Kerry. Ruth was a wonderful, loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. While her family was the most important part of her life, Ruth also very much enjoyed travelling. During her extensive travels with her family, she was able to visit parts of every continent except for South America and Antarctica. Ruth also had many close friends with whom she shared her weekly sewing club and later ‘’fragile’’ club (Freda, Ruth, Audrey, Jeannette, Loreta and Elsie). She was especially fortunate to have her lifelong friend, Loreta and her family as well as Jeannette and her sister, Myrna, and the Henderson clan as her dear friends. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Glynn; her parents; her uncle, Ray Bainton of Los Angeles; Loreta and Neil Crowe, Judi Grainger, and Cheryl McClelland. She is survived by her son, Brent and her son, Kerry and her daughter, Pamela; her grandchildren, Jordan, Travis (Megan) and Joel, as well as many nieces and nephews. Many thanks go to the Bow Crest Care Centre in Bowness and its staff for their wonderful care as well to Dr. Cathryn Kuzyk for all her help throughout the years.
