Severino Palara Javier passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at home on September 26, 2022 at the age of 83. Severino leaves behind his loving wife Consuelo; his children Lida (Ferdie), Emelie (Darren), Estela, Erica (Ken), Eunice (Lorman), and Jon (Ada); his grandchildren Kennedy, Dylan, Isaac, Grayson, Nate, Rylee and Alex; his sister Estefania and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Born and raised in Laur, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, Severino moved to Calgary with his young and growing family in 1970. As a Master Heavy Duty Mechanic, Severino loved trouble shooting mechanical problems and was highly regarded in the industry for his specialized skills both nationally and overseas. His career also gave him the opportunity to travel around the world including China, Russia and Libya. A lifelong learner with a sharp memory, he took pride in sharing his knowledge with people around him, and many looked to him for advice. He was generous, adventurous, and always had a story to tell. An avid basketball and tennis fan with a knack for karaoke, he enjoyed spending time talking about sports and singing his favourite Elvis tunes. His outgoing personality, words of encouragement and reasoning will be sorrowfully missed by his family.
His family will be hosting a Celebration of Life in his honour and welcome everyone to join them on Friday, Oct 7 at 12pm for Mass at St Michael’s Church followed by a tribute at South Calgary Funeral Centre and Crematorium at 12700 Macleod Trail SE.
