It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Mary Hanlin Pearson at the age of 90 years. Sheila was an incredible woman; a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and true friend to many of all ages.
Sheila was born on October 19, 1928 in Nairn, Scotland to James and Mary Dey. She would serve as a nurse in the army, air force, and navy of the Royal British and Canadian Militaries. Sheila married of the love of her life, (Alfred) Edsel Pearson in 1959. Her care for others would extend into her later life where she would work for the Bethany Care Centre in Calgary, AB.
Left to mourn her loss are Sheila’s daughter, Jasmine Pearson and her husband, Paul Abrams; son James and his wife, April; and her grandchildren, Jasmine and Axel. Sheila is also survived by her sister Diana Miller and nephews Deyne and Lorne Miller of Scotland, as well as many nieces, nephews, and relatives here in Canada.
Sheila was predeceased by her parents, James & Mary Dey, her husband, (Alfred) Edsel Pearson, and her son, Edsel Pearson.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Saturday, August 10th, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
