Stanislawa (Stella) Anna Fertash passed away unexpectedly at the Foothills Medical Centre on Thursday, May 8th, 2025 at the age of 85. Stella was born September 20, 1939 in Podolany, Poland and immigrated to Canada with her mother, Bronislawa Kabat, in 1949. They would join Stella’s father, Stanislaw Kabat, in Blairmore, Alberta and would eventually make Calgary her home. Throughout her life, family and friends always knew Stella would welcome them with her signature smile, a fresh cup of coffee, and a plate of amazing cooking or baking. We are all the better for having known her and having be a part of our lives. Let us remember how she welcomed each of us into her life and her wonderful smile. She will be dearly missed.
Stella will be sadly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, David & Natasha; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl & Ian, and Carolyn & Cory; her grandchildren, Pasha, Kenton, Maya, and Callie.
Stella was predeceased by her husband, John, and her sister, Zofia.
A Graveside Service will be held at QUEEN’S PARK CEMETERY (3219 4th Street NW, Calgary AB) on Thursday, May 15th at 2:00pm; guests are advised to meet at the cemetery entrance.
