It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Bruce Gibson in Calgary, Alberta on Sunday, March 30, 2025. He will be deeply missed by his wife Heidi, his daughters Rebecca (Jon), and Kaylee, and his grandchildren Ainsley and Jake. Steve also left behind his brother Michael (Vickey) in Ontario. He will be remembered by his many in-laws and extended family. Steve was predeceased by his parents, Stan and mother Gwen.
Steve was born in Toronto, Ontario, coming west to Calgary in 1981 where he met the love of his life, Heidi Braun. Steve and Heidi were married on August 26, 1988.
Steve was an enthusiastic entrepreneur and very active in helping others at his beloved Centre Street Church. His strong Christian faith was fundamental in his life. He had a difficult struggle with dementia in his last years but still enjoyed time with his extended family.
Steve enjoyed chatting with everyone - always with a grin on his face. He had a great sense of humour and enjoyed pranking the children in his life with impromptu water gun fights. He happily rode his bicycle everywhere in the summer, sometimes with one of his little girls riding on the back. Barbecues in his backyard were always a special time for the extended family. He loved attending Stampeder football games and was an avid fan. Family road trips to the Shuswap, Nelson and Winnipeg were special times. Steve had a keen interest in politics and understood the importance of being politically active.
Steve was a generous man who will be missed by many friends and family.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
