Sybil lost Ron, her husband of 73 years, in 2020. Together they had us four kids.
Mom was proud of being crowned May Queen in her childhood in Durham, England and also proud of her service in the British WRENS (they called her Pinky) where she met Dad.
Throughout Mom and Dad's journey in life, they lived in many towns and cities in Guernsey, Channel Islands and the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta in Canada. Besides facing many challenges in life, Mom and Dad also enjoyed many happy moments. Having never learned to drive, Mom loved to ride in the car with dad and travel through the Rocky Mountains. Together they took great pleasure in their vegetable and flower gardens which dad took care of so well. Mom was intensely proud of her kitchen and home and baked the best desserts ever! Her favorite fridge magnet was "A cookie in both hands is a balanced diet". Mom was quick to invite her children and significant others over for dinner, to sit and chat about everything under the sun. Mom was fascinated with the universe and the mystery of what lies beyond the earth. She was passionate about books with mystery and intrigue. And she ADORED cats!
Although Mom never had a professional career, she assembled pens at home for her brother-in-law John Perkins, worked at the St. Albert SAAN department store where she delighted in her friendships with the other staff, and was a cashier in a University of Alberta convenience store in Edmonton, helping her good friends with their business.
These last years, Sybil was in assisted living in Calgary due to dementia. She is survived by her younger sister Enid Perkins who resides independently in Calgary.
She is loved by her children: Ted (Brenda), Brian (Mercedes), Jackie (Dale), and Rob (Claudine), and her grandchildren: Mike, Paul (Lindsay), and Chris (Madison).
It is with love in our hearts that we remember our dear sweet mom.
