Teruko Hawkins passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on December 2, 2011 at the age of 85 years. Teruko was born in Tokyo, Japan on February 8, 1926. She was living in the Tokyo/Yokohama area where she met Bill in 1964. In 1965 she came to Calgary and married Bill. Teruko and Bill travelled extensively to Europe, North America, and Japan. Teruko was an accomplished painter and an avid collector of antiques including dolls, Satsuma porcelain, and art glass. She is survived by her husband Bill, one sister Sueko of Yokohama, two nieces Shizue of Tokyo, Kazue of Calgary, and Kazue’s son Chris Peterson. In addition to her family, Teruko will be missed by all who knew her. A private Graveside Service will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery. A celebration of Teruko’s life will be held in the New Year.
