Thelma was born in Tuberose, Saskatchewan, to John B Wilson and Annie Wilson (Olson). She was one of 10 children; Ivan, Woodrow, Clarence, Lillian, Gladys, Gordon, Charlotte, John (Homer), Lawrence, and Baby Boy (deceased after birth). She is pre-deceased by all of her siblings and parents, leaving her to be the last of the "Wilson Clan".
Thelma married the love of her life, Knut Anderson on May 2, 1953. They spent time in Nelson, British Columbia, and moved to Calgary in the mid-fifties. They welcomed 3 children; Raymond (deceased 1974), Lynne, and Dale.
Thelma loved to travel, read, cook, bake, play piano, listen to music, spend time with family and friends, and share adventures with Knut. From trips through the USA, to international trips, to staying close to home with travel, one of their favorite spots became Victoria, BC - they loved the ocean and would spend weeks at a time there. They treasured the time they had together raising their family, creating memories, going for Saturday night dinners, travelling, shopping, and just being together, until Knut's sudden passing in 2006. In recent years, she had taken a liking to watching cooking shows on tv, having visits from the resident cats, and enjoying the gardens.
One of her greatest joys in life, other than a good cup of coffee, or a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, was her grandchildren, and later on, her great grandson. She lit up when she saw all of them, and she was definitely made to be a grandma. She was patient, kind, loving, supportive, and had a wicked sense of humor. Even with aging, she handled it with courage, strength, grace, and dignity - that became more apparent with Covid, and reduced visits. She loved talking on the phone when visits weren't possible, always had a smile and kind words for anyone she saw, and kept fighting daily when she wasn't feeling well, but always worried about everyone else before herself. She was everything to everyone - a mom, a grandma, a great Grandma, a wife, a friend, a church member, a sister, daughter, aunt, niece, and cousin - and she filled each role perfectly.
She is survived and will be missed greatly by her daughter Lynne (Brian), her son Dale (Cathy), granddaughter Melissa (Andrew), grandsons Jordan (Georgina) and Kristopher (Shelby), and her great grandson Liam, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Many thanks go out to Bowcrest Nursing home staff for all of your care.
