

Born in China in 1937, Vai Sau moved to Hong Kong and later to Macau, where she raised her two children, Sam and Josephine. In 1982, she immigrated to Canada to join Josephine and her husband Steven in Calgary, where she helped to raise her first grandchild, Stephanie. Her family continued to grow with the arrivals of grandchildren Selena, Jessica, Michael, and Monika, all of whom brought her immense joy.
Vai Sau lived a selfless life; she was happiest when those she loved were happy and well taken care of. She was thoughtful and caring, and maintained an impressive group of long-tenured friendships.
She is lovingly survived by her sister, Hing Ko; her eldest sister-in-law Vicky Yee; her brother Peter Yee (Kim Shung Yee); her brother David Yee (Siu Yee Ho); her brother Jack Yee (Ellen Mei Yong Yee); her brother Danny Yee (Ivy Yee); her son, Sam Szeto (Yrma Szeto), grandson, Michael Szeto, and granddaughter Monika Szeto; her daughter, Josephine Ko (Steven Ko) and granddaughters, Stephanie Kuntz (Joel Kuntz), Selena Ko (Josh Jamroziak), and Jessica Ko, and her great-granddaughters, Senna Kuntz and Emi Kuntz.
A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
