Wai Chiu was born in Zhangxi, Zhongshan, Guangdong in 1941. She immigrated to Calgary from Hong Kong in 1965. In Calgary, she helped with the family business in Chinatown. She started a family at this time and later on worked as a cook at Silver Dollar Bowl. She was an amazing and wonderful wife and mother who cared about everyone and will be missed by her entire family and extended family.
Wai Chiu is lovingly remembered by her husband, Yuen Chi of 60 years and four children, Peter (Sandra), Anthony (Brenda), Elena (Wayne), Jason (Mary); and her seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A Funeral Service will be held at Foster's Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on March 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
