

Wai Yum Tse passed away at the Bowview Manor in Calgary, AB on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the age of 100 years. He was born on August 14, 1925 in Kai Pin, China. He went to school in Nanjing, China where he graduated and then moved to Hong Kong in 1956 where he lived for 18 years while working in a clothing factory. His brother immigrated him to Canada in 1974 after he lost everything in WWI and WWII. He lived in Grand Prairie, AB and worked as a chef for 2 years. In 1976 he moved to Calgary, AB and continued working as a chef. In 1979 he was joined by his wife and youngest son. Wai proceeded to open a restaurant in 1986 called Tien Tien Kitchen where he would work until he retired at the age of 65. Wai had 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, and he was able to watch them all grow during his 100 years of living. Wai loved playing mahjong, enjoyed a glass of Hennessy at dinner, and loved Won Ton noodle soup. He also loved walking, gardening, and watching the evening news. We are honoured to have him as a part of our lives and the memories that were created will forever be in our hearts.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Foster's Garden Chapel Funeral Home (3220 4th Street NW, Calgary, AB) with interment to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery.
