William Y.S. Chan passed away peacefully at Southwood Hospice on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at the age of 74 years. He was born in Guangdong, China, immigrated to Indonesia and then to Canada in 1974. William will be lovingly remembered by his second wife Zhu Ling Chen; step-daughter Yu Han Kuang; son Peter Chan (Yolanda); grandchildren Michael and Sarina Chan; sisters Shirley Wong and Jeannie Setiawan (Budi); nephew Gilbert Wong; nieces Melissa Setiawan (Schuyler Robinson), Stephanie Setiawan (Andrew Sanden) and Jennifer Jackson (Derek); as well as many other relatives and friends. William was predeceased by his first wife, Susan Mei Chung Chan, brother-in-law John Wong, and both of his parents, Mr. Weng Tjoen Tan and Mrs. Jie Hiong Tan. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
