Carol was a devoted mother to her three daughters: Michelle (Chris), Victoria, and Jodi (Rob). She was a deeply loved Nanny to her grandchildren—Jamie, Kailey (Taylor), Jason, and Ashley—and a proud Granny to her great-granddaughters, Alexandra and Charlotte. Carol’s unwavering love and support will be profoundly missed by all of them.
She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Janet Benn (Dave), and by many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Carol was predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul Gonder (1997), her parents, George and Jean Newbigging, and her brother, Jim Newbigging.
Carol had a deep love for nature and found peace in the outdoors. Her garden was her sanctuary, and she spent countless hours tending to her plants with patience and pride. She had a remarkable green thumb and a special way with all living things. She also had a soft spot for furry companions and enjoyed the fun and excitement of a good shopping trip.
Above all, Carol cherished her family and friends. Her happiest moments were spent in their company— gathered at home, around the table sharing stories, listening to country music and playing cards. She treasured every moment, and her love was steady, unconditional, and fierce.
Carol’s presence brought comfort to those around her, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and her life will be honoured privately by her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
