Eileen Mary Rier

Peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Stirling Heights LTC, Cambridge at the age of 83.

Beloved Mom of Rod Rier (Bonnie), Sherry Paling (Mike), Sheldon Rier (Lee) and Cynthia Anderson (Don). Very proud Grandmother to Mykaela, Madison, Elyse, and Olivia the daughters of Rod and Bonnie Rier; Eric and Colin the sons of Sheldon and Christine Morgan-Rier; Sabrina and Sierra the daughters of Cynthia and Don Anderson. Dear Sister to Joe Walsh (Kathy) of Chesley and beloved aunt of Mike and Chis Walsh.

Born in Durham, Ontario in 1938 to the late Jack and Beatrice Walsh. Anxious to get out of Durham, she took a secretarial course and left for Toronto. We know little of her time in Toronto beyond her having seen Elvis in concert as a favor to a roommate and descriptions of some not-so-great rooming houses. The next chapter was her greatest as Mom and homemaker to four children and pets. Never did she miss a school function, a sporting event, or an arts activity. Many times, she voiced that she would have preferred “toddlers over teenagers any day”. Her greatest joy was as a grandmother in knowing what all the grand children were up to in pursuing their dreams. Continue your successes as Grandma will be watching over you.

Her Roman Catholic faith was of the utmost importance to her and was proud to have attended weekly Mass predominantly at St. Clement’s 52+ years. A long-term member of the Catholic Women’s League.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Stirling Heights LTC for the kind and compassionate care over the past two years.

Cremation has taken place. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated as Eileen, was an area captain and door to door canvasser for 20+ years.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clement’s Parish, 745 Duke Street, Cambridge on Saturday March 5, 2022, at 11:00am. We request all attendees be fully vaccinated.
