Heather Anne Large died unexpectedly on Friday, April 18, 2014. She was predeceased by her parents, Hilbert P. and Lillian Large. She will be missed and remembered by her sister Susan Large-Hoffman (Geoff) and her brother Richard Large (Nancy Desrosiers)
Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 1:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place. No flowers please, donations to the charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated by her family.
Heather's life took her all across Canada, from her birthplace in Vancouver all the way to PEI, stopping at many places in between, before finding a life and home in Cambridge.
Heather had a facility for – and love of – mathematics, which led her to teach mathematics at the John F. Ross Collegiate and Vocational Institute in Guelph. Teaching math in high-school is rarely appreciated (if not resented) by students, but she considered it a privilege to be able to share her appreciation of the beauty and usefulness of this abstract subject with her students.
Heather was eager to experience everything life has to offer, actively seeking out new things to experience. When she found something she liked, she would embrace it with boundless, childlike enthusiasm. One of her greatest joys came from sharing her passions with others.
And not only her passions – she would also share her time, her skills, her knowledge, her experience, really anything she had (including her hair, gladly shorn in the cause of cancer research), if it would make someone else's life easier or happier.
Heather is tragically gone before anyone was ready to see her go, and her joy for life and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
