Predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Jean (nee Van Sickle) Tolhurst. Loving Brother of Lynda Eades and Janet Shantz (Richard Shantz). Much loved Uncle of Jennifer Eades (Peter Sieunarine), Robin Shantz (Kit Yee Lau), Mark Shantz, Geoffrey Ziegler and great nieces and nephews Aaron, Finton, Monica, Alex and Clinton. Jim was a skilled machinist and long term employee of Strite Industries. Jim was proud to have achieved his pilot’s wings and enjoyed flying for many years. As a young man, he also served in the militia as a member of the Highland Fusiliers of Canada. Jim passed away after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
At Jim’s request, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends are invited to the Memorial Visitation at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge (519-653-3251) on Friday, April 10, 2015 from 7 -9 p.m. Donations in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by his family.
