It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Josée Hélène Séguin, who passed away on January 19, 2026, at the age of 71. Josée was born on October 27, 1954, in Verdun, Quebec, to Herbie Séguin (predeceased) and Monique Séguin (née Chevrier).
Josée was the devoted partner and wife of Henry Wouda for 35 years, sharing a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.
Josée will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children: Christian Gallinger-Séguin, his wife Megan, and their children Wesley and Samantha; Vincent Wouda-Séguin, his husband Taylor Parsons; and Stéphanie Wouda-Séguin, her husband Shoyo Iioka.
In 1974, Josée moved from Quebec after being hired as a flight attendant to help open the Toronto base for Nordair Airlines, beginning a remarkable career in aviation. She continued working in the airline industry for 46 years, finishing her career as a Service Director with Air Canada. Josée truly loved her work—not for the job itself, but for the people. She cherished meeting and connecting with colleagues, passengers, and the many people she encountered during layovers in destinations around the world.
Josée had the rare gift of making everyone she met love and remember her, even if they had only met in passing. Her eyes and smile could light up a room, and she had an extraordinary way of making people feel instantly at ease. She traveled the world many times over, and people across the globe will feel this immense loss.
She enjoyed many activities, especially going to the gym—not only to stay active, but to enjoy the friendships and sense of community she built there.
Above all else, Josée’s greatest love was her family. She lived by the words, “anything for family.” She leaves behind countless cherished memories of family dinners, outings, and travels together, including wine-tasting adventures at vineyards around the world, most especially throughout Ontario and Quebec. She will be deeply missed by her family near and far, from her in-laws to her many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Most especially, she will be profoundly missed by her mother, older brother Pierre and her twin sister Johanne, with whom she shared an extraordinary and unbreakable bond—one that only twins can know.
She will always be in our hearts and minds and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Josée's life will be celebrated on Friday, January 30th at Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge. Visitation will take place from 5:30 - 8:30 PM; all who knew and loved Josée are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Wellington Hospice in Guelph would be greatly appreciated.
Bon voyage, Josée.
