Heaven gained an angel - Kathleen Dorothy Johnson, in her 102nd year, passed away peacefully on February 16th with her family at her bedside. Affectionately known as "Grandma J", Kathleen was blessed with a long healthy life.
Born and raised in Galt, predeceased by her husband "Phode" in 1998 and her son in law Howie Schmidt in 2004. Mom and best friend to Debbie. Aunt Kay to many nieces and nephews. Grandma to Teri, Dave, Mike, Sue, Joe, Sharon, Tony and Leslie. Great Grandma to Ashley, Sean, Christina, Jay, Kim, Greg, Matt, Darlis, Taylor, Jordyn, Courtney, Jordan and Aimee. Great-great Grandma to Jase, William, MacKenzie, Sadie, Lawton, Wyatt, Bronwyn, Josephine, Eli, Oliver and Tripp. Everyone LOVED Grandma J.
Grandma J enjoyed watching Sportsnet and everyone knew it was best to never change the channel. She loved catching up on the hockey games, baseball games, curling and golf - and she especially loved seeing the grandchildren enjoy their endeavours. Pictures and videos were shared with Grandma J so she always knew what they were up to.
Grandma J always looked forward to the family gatherings - being at the Farm in Mildmay and participating in the annual road clean-up was one of her favourite times. Family gatherings were always better when Grandma J was there.
Grandma J never wanted to be "fussed over". We can all hear her say "I'm fine, I'm fine; everything is great". Grandma J loved you unconditionally. Grandma J was a woman of Faith. Grandma J was the best.
We can only imagine the reunion with "Phode" and "Howie". A dance to the "Green Green Grass of Home" and a "spirited" exchange with Howie is imminent.
Mom, Grandma J, Kathleen, we will cherish the memories. We will always remember the "twinkle in your eyes" and your infectious giggle. All our love until we meet again.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Hospice Wellington, the wonderful staff at Queen’s Square and Grandma J's friend Jean.
