Passed away peacefully at Fairview Mennonite Home, Cambridge at age 91. Beloved wife of the late W. Stewart Witmer(2010) for 63 wonderful years. Loving mother of Paul and Mary Witmer, Elsie and Jim Hochstedler and Esther and Bruce Cressman. Dearly loved grandmother of Heather and husband Anthony Willemsen, Lorie and husband Mark Cressman, Kevin and Joni Witmer, Andrew and Melissa Cressman, Jonathan Cressman and fiancé Tammy Clement , Mark and Katy Cressman , great-grandmother of Carter and Makenna Cressman, Julia and Evan Willemsen, Nash Witmer and Elizabeth Cressman. Dear sister-in-law of Helen and Joe Burkholder and Bruce and Pat Witmer. She will be sadly missed by her extended family and friends. Predeceased by her parents Amos and Emma Shantz, son John Witmer(1959), grandson Jeremy Hochstedler(1983), Gordon and Elizabeth Shantz, Norman and Beatrice Shantz ,Irene and Elton Kinzie, and sister-in-law Joyce Witmer. Mary was a lifelong resident of Cambridge and an active member of Preston Mennonite Church. She volunteered for Fairview Mennonite Home Auxiliary for 35 years and the Preston Self-Help Store for several years. The family will receive friends at the BARTHEL FUNERAL HOME, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge N3H 3J8 (519 653 3251) on Wednesday December 5th for visitation from 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday December 6th at Fairview Mennonite Home, 515 Langs Drive, Cambridge at 11am with visitation 1 hour prior to service. Interment to follow at Hagey Cemetery. A special thank you to the dedicated staff at Fairview Mennonite Home, for their many years of loving care to both our parents.
