Robert "Bob" LeBlanc was known as many things to many people. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Bob will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Bob was born on October 20, 1947 at Hotel Dieu in Moncton, New Brunswick. He was the middle son of Theodore and Alma LeBlanc. Bob grew up in Memrancook, NB, together with his two brothers, Phil (the oldest) and Paul (the youngest). Bob also had a younger sister, Geralda, who died when she was 2 days old. When Bob was 7, the family moved to Toronto, ON.
Bob attended Sacred Heart elementary school and then continued on to Central Tech Collegiate. He left school early to begin working as a delivery driver.
Bob and Marie first met in 1966 and got married on August 24, 1968.
Bob worked hard to be a good father to his children, Angel and Ted, and he did his best to fulfill their needs. The family spent a lot of time together playing games, picnicing, go-karting and visiting just about every tourist attraction in Southern Ontario.
Another blessing for Bob was the gift of three grandchildren, Jessica, Sydney and Marcus. Bob ("Grandpa") loved to have his three grandchildren together on the farm, always willing to give rides on his tractor and various other farm equipment.
Bob was fortunate enough to have one lifelong best friend in Roger Aube. They met when they were in their mid-teens and maintained their friendship for over 50 years.
Bob enjoyed the company of several special "friends" over his lifetime - Kasey, Cedar and Rusty.
Fortunately, Bob enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Bob worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was a buyer. He joined Goodyear in his mid-20s and was employed with them for over 20 years, where he received many Service Excellence awards. Bob always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done. He rounded out his work life by driving a school bus, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Bob’s faith was important to him. He was spiritual, reading the Bible and Sunday Missal. He often attended Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Church when he was living in Guelph.
Bob enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for him to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included motorcycle trips to Lake Placid, eastern coast of the United States and Tennessee, snowmobile trips to Haliburton Highlands and Northern Ontario and driving out to the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton. Many vacations were also spent in the beauty of Algonquin Park, canoeing out to remote camp sites.
Bob had many interests over his lifetime. In his younger days, he enjoyed watching his brother, Paul, play hockey and baseball. He also played shinny with Paul on the weekends. Paul and he also enjoyed many days fishing together. Bob enjoyed going to Pinecrest Speedway to watch the stock cars races. Later in life, one of Bob's passions was building and flying radio-controlled airplanes with his son, Ted. Whenever there was nice weather, Bob could be found riding his motorcycle, usually accompanied by either Marie, Angel or Ted.
Bob was very talented at woodworking and building things, such as tables, shelves and craft storage items (for Marie, Angel and Dineen). He enjoyed working on automobiles. Although he was reluctant to show anyone but Marie, Bob often wrote poetry. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing on his karaoke machine.
Fond memories will be forever cherished of going for long drives in the country and watching the sunsets at Sauble Beach with his wife, Marie. On quiet nights Bob loved sitting around the campfire and looking up at all the beautiful stars on his farm.
Bob passed away on December 27, 2011 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Cambridge Ontario. Services were held at Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge, Ontario with a reception held at the family home in Puslinch, Ontario.
Simply stated, Bob was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Bob leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Robert "Bob" LeBlanc.
