With great sadness, we announce that Mike passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9th, 2013 in his 60th year, from a very recent diagnosis of pancreatic cancer at the Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario.
Mike was surrounded by his family and many loved ones at the time that he left us. Mike leaves behind his loving wife Visma, his son Bryce (Rachelle) Mesley, his two granddaughters Camryn and Gabrielle, his daughter Molly (Robert) Kitamura, his grandson Wyatt, his step-son James Mackie, and his step-daughter Leah Mackie. He is also survived by his sisters Robin Dorney of Espanola, Ontario, Kym Mesley of Whitecourt, Alberta, Melanie Bollands of Houston, Texas, two nieces and four nephews.
Mike was living in Hamilton and soon to retire after more than 40 years of service with Ironworker Local 736, which took him across Canada and the USA building many significant and memorable steel structures as Site Superintendent with Walters Inc. for the past 12 years. Mike loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle, coaching football, golf and travelling. He was a loving and honorable man and mentor to many during his lifetime. We are saddened by this sudden loss.
Donations in his memory to the Juravinski Cancer Centre, 699 Concession Street, Hamilton, ON L8V 5C2, would be appreciated by his family.
