Dad was born in Alloa, Scotland on March 13th, 1929, to the late Catherine Friedrich and the late Colin McNab.
Mum and Dad moved to Canada with their 2 daughters in tow in June 1963 and took up residence in Campbellton, where they were both employed at the former Provincial Hospital, where lifelong friendships were made. In 1965, they bought their first house in Brookside, where they resided until their passing, making good friends with their wonderful neighbors.
In February 1966, our little family of 4 grew to 5 with the birth of their eldest son. Then in September 1967 our family grew to 6, with the birth of their youngest son.
Dad enjoyed going to the Campbellton Tigers hockey games in the old Memorial Gardens, going down to the boiler room between periods with other fans, where it was warmer. It must have been really warm because they all came back into the rink with rosy cheeks, having nothing to do with the little glass bottles they were hiding in their coats!!
Dad also had a cottage in Oak Bay, Que. that he enjoyed going to with his furry friend Becky, who would wait patiently for him to come home from work on Fridays so they could leave for the weekend.
You will notice the different spelling of our last name from his parents. When Dad joined the army, they made a mistake in the spelling of his name and he decided to keep it.
Dad is survived by his daughters Ishbel (Wendell), Kathryn (Brian), sons Graham and Bill, brother Colin (Irene) , grandchildren Haylie (Erik) , Marc (Kate) , Amy , Megan (Sam), great grandchildren Caryn, Ian and Willow, and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Scotland.
Dad was pre-deceased by his wife of 65 years, Martha, sisters Chris Renault and Margaret Hay (John) and infant brother Ian.
The family would like to give a big shout out to the staff of the Villa Renaissance Bloc A, for the outstanding care they gave to dad in the final months of his life. We were able to rest easy with the love and care they gave him.
At the request of the family there will be no visitation or service.
