

Passed away peacefully at the Sharpe Canoe shop on January 10th, 2018 at the age of 71, Mr. Douglas Sharpe of Mann's Mountain, husband of Goldie Sharpe (Campbell). Born in Campbellton on February 22nd, 1946, son of the late Raymond and the late Dorothy Sharpe.
Upon leaving Campbellton as a young man, he had many endeavors. He then worked for Dean and Chandler Roofing in Toronto. After leaving the city for Mann's Mountain, he started building canoes with his father and brother in law David Campbell. He then pursued his passion for fishing and then took his talent on the Restigouche River. He started working as a fishing guide at Cheuters Brook fishing lodge and kept fishing until his last days. As well as being a passionate fisherman, he was a skilled hunter. He also was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf Fan just like his grandson. Dougie was a great family man and was always willing to give a helping hand to whoever needed it.
He is survived by his wife Goldie Sharpe of 50 years; his two sons, Bruce (Renel) Sharpe of Campbellton and his son Barry (Stefanie) Sharpe of Campbellton; two sisters, Shirley (Don) Mollins of Shediac and Linda (Barry) Mann of Moncton; his grandchildren Sheldon (Maggie), Audrey Anne, Olivia, Gabrielle and Ellie Rose. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his two brothers, Charles and Jackie.
Funeral Service will be held at Mahers funeral Chapel, Campbellton, Wednesday at 11:00 am.
Visitation at the Maher’s Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne St., Campbellton on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 and on Wednesday at the Chapel from 10 am until time of funeral.
Donations to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
