She was born in Campbellton on February 10th, 1938, daughter of Édouard and Lucie Maltais.
After working at the Campbellton Provincial Hospital, she was selected for training and worked in Occupational Therapy at the facility until the family moved to Sept Iles Québec in 1972.
She enjoyed painting, and anything to do with art. In 1968 when the Governor General of Canada, the Honorable Roland Michener visited Campbellton, he chose two of her paintings in a local art exhibition to bring back and hang at Rideau Hall in Ottawa. Although she was a woman of many talents, her life was dedicated to her family, her husband Bill of over 60 years, her sons Sydney (Ethel), Doug (deceased), Kevin, and Bill (Thomas). She also loved her grandchildren Jenny (Kyle), Michelle, Kody (Brytney), Ashley and Jessie, her great grandchildren Nathan, Logan, Olivia and Kohen as well as all of her nieces and nephews. She also held a special place in her heart for JoAnn, Marise and Lynda who were like daughters to her.
She was predeceased by her brothers Melvin and Édouard, her sister Marina, her brothers-in-law Joe, Fernand and Morley, and also leaves behind her brothers and sisters Monique, Murielle, Mona, Marcelle (John), Mariette, Ronald, and Michelle (Dave).
The Demeau Family would like to send a special Thanks to the staff at the Manoir de la Vallée Manor for their caring, compassion and professionalism in caring for Marlene.
At her request, there will be no memorial service.
Donations may be made in her honour to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home, Campbellton.
