Nellie Larocque

Mrs. Nellie Larocque Wysote of Listuguj passed away peacefully at the Waqatasg Elder’s Care Facility on January 13, 2026, at the age of 84. She was the beloved wife of the late Chief William Jack Jegops’n Wysote.

Nellie was born on February 26, 1941, in Listuguj, Quebec, to the late Wilfred Larocque and the late Serena Methot. A lifelong member of the Listuguj community, Nellie was known for her strength, warmth, and deep love for her family and culture. She carried herself with quiet resilience and generosity, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Wilfred (Moley), Wanda (Richard), Timothy (Timbo) (Renee), Ruth (Warren), and John (Dawn). She was predeceased by her son, Mark (Markie). Nellie was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren, a great-grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandmother to one great-great-grandson.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Listuguj Community Centre on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. The service will be open to the community.
