

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Joseph Paul Chouinard due to ALS complications on April 19, 2022 at the age of 64 years. He died peacefully at Campbellton Regional Hospital surrounded by family.
Paul was born in Campbellton on July 5, 1957, son of the late Therese (Lavallee) and the late Alphonse Chouinard.
As a young adult he moved to Iqaluit where he worked and raised his daughter Lise. He maintained a close relationship with her and his grandchildren.
Paul was employed by High Artic Management for 30 years until the company was sold. He then worked in maintenance for nine years until he became ill. Paul had many talents and was a highly -skilled wood worker. His last project was helping Patrick and their cousin Yvan to fix Suzanne’s deck.
Paul leaves his partner Jennie Piercey; daughter Lise Chouinard and grandchildren Peter, Lydia and Mary of Iqaluit; sisters Docile Chouinard, Ida Thomas, and Suzanne Miller of Campbellton; Carole Chouinard of Moncton; brothers Patrick (Mary) of Fredericton; Jean-Guy (Linda) of St. John; Luc (Susan Ash) of Gander NL, and Louis (Rejeanne Daigle) of Willow Grove, NB. He also leaves Jennie’s family, Bill, Stephen, Jeffery Piercey; Sisters in law Joyce (Ray ) Matier ; Judy (Ian) Stewart and their families. He was the uncle of many nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great- nieces . Paul will be greatly missed by all. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Marc; brothers-in-law Charles Thomas and Alan Miller.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Paul’s life will be held at Maher’s Funeral Chapel, 64 Lansdowne St., Campbellton, on Thursday April 28th at 2pm with visitation from 1pm until service time.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Campbellton Regional Hospital Emergency Department, paramedics, med-surgical unit and palliative care. Also thanks to Dr. Fontaine and his staff, Dr. Masse and all the staff from Extra Mural Department, ALS Society and Stan Cassidy Rehabilitation Centre in Fredericton. Also a special thank you to Ida Thomas for all her love and support.
In Paul’s memory donations can be made to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Foundation, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease or the charity of your choice.
