Raymond Lagacé

Né à McKendrick le 21 juillet 1938, fils de feu Omer Lagacé et de feu Élizabeth Lagacé (Morrison).

Il fut enseignant à la Polyvalente Roland-Pépin pendant 31 ans et maire d’Atholville de 1971 à 2012, après avoir été conseiller de 1969 à 1971. En 2012, il fut récipiendaire de l’Ordre du Nouveau-Brunswick pour « toute une vie passée à servir son village et sa région » et récipiendaire de la Médaille du jubilé de diamant de la Reine Elizabeth II. En 2013, il reçut le prix Louis-J.-Robichaud.

Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil ses fils Richard Lagacé (Karen Kimber) de Barrie, en Ontario, Dr Marc Lagacé (Nancy Underhill), de Campbellton, N.-B., sa fille Nicole Lagacé (Marc Laflamme) de Québec, Qc, et tous ses petits-enfants. Il fut précédé dans la mort par son fils Michel en 2002.

Il laisse aussi dans le deuil sa sœur Anne-Marie (Jean-Guy Léger) de Kingston, en Ontario, son frère Yvon (Cécile Thériault) de Lévis, Qc, plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-sœurs, neveux, nièces, cousins et cousines, ainsi qu’un oncle et une tante, Prospère et Thérèse Lagacé.

Funérailles auront lieu à l'Église Notre-Dame-des-Neiges de Campbellton, lundi le 2 août, 2021 à 11h00.

Visites au Salon Funéraire Maher, 33 rue Lansdowne, Campbellton, dimanche le 1 août de 14h00 à 16h00 et 19h00 à 21h00.

Passed away at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on March 23, 2020 at the age of 81, Mr. Raymond Lagacé of Atholville, husband of Lorraine Lagacé (Bernard).

Born in McKendrick on July 21, 1938, son of the late Omer Lagacé and Élizabeth Lagacé (Morrison).

He was a teacher at Polyvalente Roland-Pépin for 31 years and mayor of Atholville from 1971 to 2012. He served as village councillor two years prior. In 2012, he received the Order of New Brunswick for a « lifetime of service to his village and region » and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. In 2013, he received the Louis-J.-Robichaud Award.

He is survived by his wife Lorraine Lagacé, his son Richard Lagacé (Karen Kimber) from Barrie, Ontario, son Dr. Marc Lagacé (Nancy Underhill) from Campbellton, NB, and daughter Nicole Lagacé (Marc Laflamme) from Québec City, Qc, and all his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Michel Lagacé in 2002.

He also leaves behind his sister, Anne-Marie (Jean-Guy Léger) from Kingston, Ontario, his brother Yvon (Cécile Thériault) from Lévis, Qc, paternal uncle and aunt, Prospère and Thérèse Lagacé, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral mass will be held at the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Church in Campbellton on Monday August 2, 2021 at 11:00 am.

Visitation at Maher’s Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne St., Campbellton, Sunday August 1st, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00

The family suggests sending memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
