

The death of Shirley Elizabeth Dickson of Tide Head occurred on July 10th, 2014, at home. Born in Center Napan, NB on September 11th, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Milton and the late Elizabeth (McEwen) Galloway, and predeceased by Marcus, her husband of 49 years.
Active in church and community for her whole life, she was a member of St Andrews United Church Tide Head, serving as member of Session, choir, U.C.W., and church school teacher. She belonged to Lady Alexander Chapter No. 24 Order of Eastern Star, Tide Head Senior Citizens Club, and Caledonian Society. She was a long time member of the Board of the Village Nursing Home, and was also a former Boy Scout Leader. She was honoured by the Village of Tide Head for her volunteer efforts.
She is survived by her three sons, Robin (Cathy), Reg (Pam), and Terry, all of Tide Head, and six grandchildren, Harley, Carey, Cory, Sarah, Ryan, and Nolan. She was predeceased by brothers, Jim, Max, and Wilbur, and sister Ella.
Funeral services will be held from St. Andrew’s United Church, Tide Head, on July 14th at 2 pm with Rev. Jim Postelthwaite officiating. Internment in Flatlands Cemetery. Pallbearers, grandchildren, Harley, Carey, Cory, Sarah, Ryan, and Nolan Dickson. Honorary Pallbearers, Kathleen Bursey, Kathy McFarlane, Eva MacKenzie, Willa Mann, Verna Poley, Ralph Bain and Wayne Mann.
Visitation at Maher’s Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne Street Campbellton, Sunday from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm and on Monday at the church one hour before the service. All members of the Eastern Star are asked to meet at St. Andrew’s United Church on Monday at 1:45pm for prayers.
Donations to the St. Andrew’s Memorial Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
