March 29, 1933 – December 5, 2025
Our Dad has gone to his rest after a long, full, and meaningful life.
Born in Listuguj, Tom was the eldest child of the late Thomas and Benedicte (née Vicaire) LaBillois. After losing both parents to tuberculosis at a young age, he was raised by his grandmother, the late Margaret LaBillois. He was predeceased by his brothers Benoit and John, his sister Bernadette, and Joan, the mother of his daughters.
Tom leaves behind his daughters Joni, Colleen, and Victoria (Ken Mitchell), along with his sister Emma, all of Listuguj. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Anne, Darrell, Sara, Kyle, and Paul John.
Tom was resilient from the start, learning early how to navigate the world with determination and independence. He ventured far from home in search of work and adventure, traveling across the blueberry and potato fields of Maine, the forests of New York State, the foundries of Connecticut, and the high-rises of New England as an ironworker.
In Canada, he became known for his skill as a welder and later retired as a conservation officer. The Restigouche River was at the heart of his life—he knew its every turn, every tide, every shift of wind. Tom was mechanically gifted and loved working with metal. His garage was his workshop and his sanctuary, a place filled with tools, projects, and the steady flow of friends stopping by for coffee, Cuban cigars, and stories.
A private ceremony will be held in the spring.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted in the care of Maher’s funeral Home, Campbellton.
