Bonnie was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Rogers, her 2nd husband, Richard Houston, her parents, Albert & Bonnie Sytsma, and her sisters, Vivian Finch and Louise Pruitt. Bonnie is survived by her Children: Caryn Bruce (& husband Bob), and Brad Rogers (& wife, Laura); Stepchildren: Randy Houston (& wife Debbie), Sue Anne Houston (& partner David), and Michele Elia (& husband Phil), 9 Grand Children and 9 Great Grandchildren.
Bonnie was born in Hays Kansas, where she lived until her first marriage. She was a secretary until she became a mother. Thereafter she was a mom and homemaker. She played golf and enjoyed knitting and cross stitching – creating many beautiful items for her family & her home. She loved music - she played piano and cello and was the volunteer choir director for the Community Church she was a part of. Her faith community was always central to her life – family activities often revolved around church events, or with other church members.
She & Rick also loved travelling & exploring the country in their RV until they settled in Surprise, Arizona where they enjoyed attending Cactus League baseball games and playing golf until they were physically unable.
Bonnie is most remembered for her love of family and others – she loved her step-kids as her own! Nothing would light her up more than when her family would visit – especially the “Littles” – who came to know her as GiGi (short for Great Grammy). Her caregivers often talked of how she would kiss their hands as they cared for and helped her in her last years. She was always concerned with others’ needs ahead of her own. She will be sorely missed - her love will be felt and held in our hearts forever.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Habitat for Humanity, of the Benevolence Fund at First Methodist church Carrollton, where she attended in her last years.
