Doris Parish Warren, 89, of Dallas, left this life on November 24th. Services will be held in Cox Chapel at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas on December 20th at 10 am. Doris' membership in this church's congregation began as an infant. She was very proud of this early connection and found great joy and fulfillment as a parishioner. Doris was born into a large family; her parents were John Millard Parish and Ruth Imogene Wilkerson Parish. She married Darrell Warren in 1944 in Fort Worth and had two children, Dianne and Dale, in Las Cruces, NM. Darrell's work in U. S. Immigration took the family of four to a number of important duty stations during the Cold War period, including Nassau, Bahamas, where Doris formed a number of long standing friendships. This, however, was not unusual as both Doris and Darrell benefited from many great friendships over the years as they moved from the Bahamas to Dallas, El Paso, and Granbury (Pecan Plantation), TX. Doris also provided Dianne and Dale with the amazing gift of a college education at Southern Methodist University through her employment at the university.
Doris is survived by her sister, Virginia Phillips and her spouse, Robert, of Fort Worth; a daughter, Dianne Green and her spouse Will, of Darien, CT; a son, Dale Warren and his spouse, Susy, of Stephenville; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and a large extended family. Darrell preceded her in death in 1989; as did her parents and seven of her eight siblings. Doris had a strong faith, love for all things SMU, music, and Stephenville High School football. Contributions may be made in her memory to Highland Park United Methodist Church, the SMU Mustang Band Scholarship Fund, the Dallas Symphony Foundation, or the Blue and Gold Legacy Fund (Stephenville High School), in lieu of flowers.
