
Ruth Caraway Walton, a life-long Episcopalian and 27 year resident of Dallas, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at her home in Presbyterian Village North. Born in 1926 in Eudora, Arkansas, Ruth was proud to have worked as a stenographer for the FBI in New Orleans, Louisiana and Pittsburg, Pennsylvania prior to marrying her high school sweetheart. Carey E. Walton and Ruth Caraway Walton were married December 18, 1944. The couple celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in December 2016. Together they raised two children, Gary Vaughn Walton and Elise Walton Chitty. Ruth and Carey jointly owned and operated 8 jewelry stores in South Louisiana until they retired and moved to Dallas in 1989. Ruth and Carey enjoyed a full life in retirement. Their interests included years of volunteer work, Spanish and piano lessons, ballroom dancing, traveling both with family and as a couple, and always serving where they were needed in their church. Ruth will be remembered for her love of family, care for her friends, dedication to her church, and her sense of style. Ruth is survived by her loving husband Carey E. Walton of Dallas, Texas; her son Gary Vaughn Walton and his wife Sharon of Pineville, LA; her daughter Elise Walton Chitty and her husband Mike of Terrell, Texas; grandchildren and their spouses Leslie and John Poto; Lauren Chitty; Whitney and Josh Lowe; Katie and Evan Ratcliff; Michael and Mandy Chitty; and her great-grand children Caroline, Claire, John, and Collins.
