
Jack Lee Snowden, 85, of Plano, Texas passed into Glory on Saturday, July 9, 2016. He was born in Anderson Indiana on February 6, 1931, to the late Herschel C. and Helen Barger Snowden. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in electrical engineering in 1953 and went on to graduate school at Ball State. On January 6, 1953, he married Georgia Jane Hitchcock (1933-1979). They raised four children, Dan, Helen, Jan, and Jack in Anderson, Indiana. After college, he worked for General Motors as an electrical design engineer, where he discovered and became enamored with computers. He taught himself computer language and began his own time share business. In 1974 he was hired by CompuServe and moved his family to Dallas, Texas and retired from Alcatel as a software designer in 2001. Jack married Robbie Lee Thompson Doss of Plano, Texas on January 9, 1982, where they lived together for over 34 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Plano. Jack enjoyed astronomy, science fiction, anything related to computers, and spending time with his wife. He was a wonderful father, devoted husband, and above all, loved his Savior, Jesus Christ. Jack is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Jane. He is survived by his wife Robbye, his son and daughter-in-law Dan and Nong Snowden of Plano, his daughter and son-in-law Billy and Helen Foster of Plano, his daughter and son-in-law Philip and Jan Goff of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and his son and daughter-in-law Jack and Karen Snowden of Stillwell, Oklahoma. Jack is also survived by his stepdaughter Debra Doss of Plano, stepson and daughter-in-law David Doss of New Braunfels, Texas, and stepdaughter and son-in-law Dayna and Bob Park of San Antonio, Texas. He had fifteen grandchildren: Tiffeny Stevenson, Jana Snowden, Dina Fuguero, Jane Hawkins, Joshua Hawkins, Benjamin Hawkins, Daniel Hawkins, John Little, Kristen Durrett, Andrew Goff, Ellen Scroggins, Adam Goff, Lindsey Doss, Payton Doss, and Kellen Kolbeck. He had fifteen great grandchildren and four nephews. Jack will be interred at Crown Hill Cemetery in Dallas. Following there will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Plano at Spring Creek and East Parker Road. Donations are being accepted by the church in Jack’s memory.
