

A graveside service will be held for the family at 10:00 am Thursday, December 31 at Hilltop Memorial Park Cemetery in Carrollton, Tx. Arrangements are by Metrocrest Funeral Home, 1810 N. Perry Rd, Carrollton, Tx.
Tomi was born February 18, 1938, to Tom and Elda Kelly Williams in Joplin, Missouri. She had a younger brother, Jay Pat Williams of Kansas City, Mo, (d. 1987), and a younger sister, Katherine Brockman of Joplin, Mo. Tomi attended Webb City High School in Webb City, Mo., where she was a cheerleader and member of the National Honor Society.
After high school, Tomi married Emmitt Henderson of Purcell, Mo., with whom she had four children: Kelly, Brian, Hugh, and Laonna.
Tomi earned a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in counseling, and had a long career as a teacher and a school counselor in the Amarillo Independent School District, retiring in 1998.
Tomi married Jim Barnard of Amarillo in 1984, to whom she was devoted for 36 years.
Tomi loved to travel with Jim, play tennis, sew, play the piano and sing, spend time with friends and family, and round dance. She and Jim were longtime members of local round dance clubs and participated in many round dance festivals around the country.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; sister Katherine Brockman of Joplin, Mo.; two daughters, Kelly Jean Calvery and husband David of Denton and Laonna Rees Davis of Tucson, Ariz.; two sons, Brian Henderson and wife Darla of Amarillo and Hugh Henderson and wife Rachel of Ft. Worth; two stepdaughters, Kim Barnard Hull and husband Gaylon of Carrollton and Karen Barnard Welch and husband Kevin of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
