

After graduating from Bonneville High School in 1963, Bill attended Weber State University until joining the Army on January 16, 1967. Bill was honorably discharged from active duty on May 19, 1967 receiving special recognition as a sharpshooter with the M-14 rifle. His military service continued for another 4 years in the Army Reserves.
Most of Bill’s career was spent with Skaggs Alpha Beta starting as a stocker and working his way up to be the produce manager, and then a buyer. After Skaggs Alpha Beta was purchased by Jewel Osco, Bill and his family moved to Texas in 1987. After his time with Jewel Osco, he moved to Ideal Sales as an operations manager. He concluded his career as a buyer with Del Monte and then Fleming. Bill retired from Fleming in 2010.
Bill was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was an Elder in the church, and served various callings including as a primary teacher, which was his favorite.
He enjoyed gardening; his favorite flower was the sunflower. Bill was a great cook and loved a good kitchen gadget. He also had an affinity for cookbooks. In his leisure time, Bill enjoyed playing golf, reading magazines, collecting crazy hot sauces, being a practical joker, and never passing up a bargain.
Bill was preceded in death by: his parents Rex Arthur Johnson and Lionne Bradshaw Johnson as well as his brother Richard Johnson.
Bill is survived by: his wife Mary Therese Johnson, his children William Richard Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Tiffany Threadgill, and Erica Gutierrez, his grandchildren Crystal Johnson, Richard Johnson, Jacob Doolan, Isabella Doolan, Mason Austin, Ethan Austin, Aidan Johnson, Gabriel Gutierrez, and Elise Gutierrez, and his siblings Barbara Bardsley, Brian Johnson, Craig Johnson and Phillip Johnson.
Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, April 12 at 10:00 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 900 S. Bower Rd, Richardson, TX 75081
Committal Service will be held Tuesday, April 12, at 2:00 pm, at Dallas - Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
