Fernando Anthony Garcia, born on January 6, 1963, passed away on February 3, 2026, at the age of 63. Fernando was a hard-working and resilient individual who was known for his strength and determination, especially in his long battle with cancer.
Fernando was a very strong person who loved basketball, a sport that brought him much joy throughout his life.
Fernando is survived by his children Fernassa and April Garcia, Shunnalee and Brandon Pedro. His sister Theresa Garcia and his companion Sara Ortega, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert Garcia and Jessie Julio, a son Travis Pedro and his siblings Rosemary, Nelson, Malford, Elsie and Raymond Garcia Sr.
Services will be on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hickiwan with mass starting at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Hickiwan Cemetery, Tohono O’odham Nation.
