PICACHO — Leonor Flores Martan, 87, of Picacho died on May 26, 2013, at home. Ms. Martan was born on Nov. 3, 1925, in Hayden to Juan F. and Paz Flores. After leaving home at 17 she attended Phoenix College for two years and then transferred to the University of Arizona. She was married to Eddie Martan for 20 years and had four children. She served nearly 50 years as postmaster in Picacho and was dedicated to her work. She was well liked and respected. She is survived by two sons, Edward B. and Emil K. Martan of Picacho; two daughters, Elaine Watson of Picacho and Eileen Martan of Gilbert; two brothers, Frank of Superior and Ray Flores of Nogales, Ariz.; two sisters, Delia Flores Buczek of San Diego and Olga Flores Erickson of Fort Benton, Mont.; 15 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. Her younger brothers Carlos and J.B. Flores, grandson Brandon K. Martan and great-granddaughter Emmie Rae Check preceded her in death.The celebration of life will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Valley Chapel in Eloy, with Pastor Jeremy Gee officiating. Following the service there will be a luncheon at Picacho Baptist Church.
