SACATON - Peggy M. Jackson, 88, of Sacaton, a former member of the Gila River Indian Community’s Tribal Council and postmaster in Sacaton, died on Sept. 6, 2016, at Caring House.Mrs. Jackson was born on Sept. 13, 1927, in Sacaton to Jay Morago and Florence Geisdorf Morago. She was postmaster and also worked as a certified nursing assistant at the hospital in Sacaton. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a choir member. She served three terms on the Tribal Council in the 1970s.She also was a member of the Intertribal School Board and Sacaton Elementary School District board and enjoyed encouraging youths to further their education. She loved listening to Elvis Presley music and was very well liked.Survivors include two daughters, Lana Thomas and Ena Blaine of Sacaton; a son, Lone Arrow Jackson Jr. of Sacaton; 11 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lone Arrow Jackson Sr., and a son, Calvin Jackson.Mrs. Jackson will lie in state at the Governance Center from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday. Visitation will follow from 6 to 10 p.m. at the District 3 Service Center. The funeral will be at 6 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Sacaton. Burial will be in Sacaton East Cemetery.J.
